About Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes is an exciting and vibrant place to work and play. It is one of the fastest growing cities in England with an A grade theatre, fantastic shopping facilities, and Xscape Snow slope , new skydiving centre and much more.

The Xscape building, which dominates the skyline, houses an indoor ski slope, bars and restaurants, amusements, ten pin bowling, shopping and more. For those who like the outdoors there are scenic parks, lakes and woodland.

The National Bowl plays host to major musical events with the likes of Michael Jackson, REM, David Bowie, Guns ‘n’ Roses, U2, Green Day and Robbie Williams playing here in the past.

Milton Keynes is also home to some major employers with Daimler Chrysler, Argos and The Open University having headquarters in the city. With businesses continuing to locate here, unemployment levels are among the lowest in the country.

Milton Keynes has excellent transport links with the M1 motorway and A5 running alongside the city. Milton Keynes is also on the London Euston rail line, meaning London is within easy access.

A new phase of development has just begun which will double the size of the city in the next 30 years. This will include a canalside development with bars and restaurants.

Living in Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes is the UK’s fastest-growing urban area. In just over 41 years, Milton Keynes has grown from a rural area embracing three towns and 13 villages to a thriving, cosmopolitan city with a population of 228,400 people.

Some of the main benefits of living in Milton Keynes include:

  • House prices are around 50% less than in London
  • Location – close to the M1, just an hour’s drive to Central London, the city stands on the West Coast main line and is close to London Luton airport
  • Accessibility – the city’s unique road system means traffic jams are rare and you can move easily from one side of the city to the other
  • 20% of the city is open space with parkland, woodland, rivers and lakes

Milton Keynes is a pleasant, clean and convenient place to live. There are lots of open spaces, decent housing, good facilities for families, plenty of shops and a good choice of entertainment and leisure facilities.
