Working for Coventry City Council
As a Council with improvement at its heart, we’re committed to making life better for the people who live and work in Coventry. We’re equally concerned with the quality of life enjoyed by our people, so by joining us, you won’t just be helping the community, you’ll be helping yourself.
Coventry is a lively, multicultural city, which embraces old and new. Around the modern city centre you’ll find traces of history everywhere – in the old city walls, the timber-framed buildings and the reconstructed medieval Spon Street. But Coventry has always had an eye on the future, and is now firmly focused on regenerating and re-inventing itself to meet the challenges of the 21st Century.
In addition to working for a 4 star Council, Coventry employees benefit from a range of training and development activities including:
- A comprehensive induction programme for all staff.
- A commitment to at least 3 days training per year for each employee.
- IT training to support staff in their job roles.
- Opportunities to learn and develop skills through secondments and projects.
- Annual performance development reviews (appraisals).
- Specialist training via seminars and conferences.
- Qualification training for certain roles.
- A management development framework for first line supervisors to senior managers.
- Leadership and management training programmes.
- Continuous professional development.
- Modern apprenticeships.
