We currently require 2 experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to work to work in private hospitals based in South East London and Sussex.

The hospitals are situation in both leafy East Sussex and Greater London and offer extremly exciting programmes and projects for the incoming OT.

As the Senior OT's, you will be working within mental health as the main purpose of this role will be to work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team within the low secure hospitals and/or locked intensive rehabilitation units, working with service users who have a severe and enduring mental health problem who may also have challenging behaviour or a forensic history. 

Duties will include 


1)To manage a clinical caseload of in-patients with severe and enduring mental illness and forensic history and/or challenging behaviour 

2)To undertake and interpret complex and detailed Occupational Therapy assessments, using the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) to underpin your practice 

3)To carry out assessments of activities of daily living to determine a patient's level of functioning 

4)To work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, carrying out Occupational Therapy intervention with patients, planning individual treatment programmes specific to their needs with particular emphasis on the daily living skills, vocational and leisure occupations of the patients, utilising graded activities to achieve therapeutic goals 

5)To take responsibility for the planning, facilitation and evaluation of the group OT programme within the service 

6) To provide a consultative role in the planning and delivering of a ward-based activity programme by nursing staff and therapeutic care workers (TCW's) 

7)To show good visual and auditory observation skills in order to be aware of interactions within group environments 

8)To provide OT interventions which are ward-based and community-based 

9)To evaluate OT treatment and ensure outcome measures are recorded 

10)To take on the role of vocational lead within the hospital 

11)To utilise skills learned through practice e.g. art, music, gardening 

12) To communicate patient-related information effectively to ensure collaborative working with multi disciplinary colleagues in reviews, Section 117 meetings, section renewals and Care Programme Approach (CPA) meetings 

13 To liaise with members of the multi-disciplinary team to develop, co-ordinate and review care plans 

Senior Occupational Therapists - Mental Health - South East London &amp; Sussex

The successful OT's, will have at least 2 years post qualiyfing experience as an OT within mental health. 

Supervisory experience is also very useful, although not essential.
