      <title>Senior Practitioner - Children in Need East Midlands SCH71268SJ</title>
      <description>A Senior Practitioner is required to join a Children in Need team in Nottinghamshire.

Working within the Children in Need team, this Senior Practitioner will have the following responsibilities:

- To act as a source of consultation for colleagues within the team and where appropriate the Department by virtue of being an experienced and reliable Senior Practitioner. 
- To assist in and contribute to the development of the practice standards in the Department as required and where relevant, which may include some training responsibilities. 
- To undertake responsibility for some areas of work in the day to day running of the team and supervision of team members. 
- To maintain a current and active interest and knowledge in such legislation and policy changes, research findings and practice developments, from a wide field, as are relevant to the post holder's client's group responsibilities.

Knowledge of child care legislation including the Children Act 1989 and associated guidance and regulations are an essential requirement for this position.

The successful Senior Practitioner will need to hold a DipSW or equivalent and be registered with the GSCC with a current CRB. A minimum 3 years working knowledge within children and families settings, with experience of court work is also desired.

      <title>Senior Practitioner - Looked After Children East Midlands SCH71278SJ</title>
      <description>A Senior Practitioner is required to join a Looked After Children team in Nottinghamshire.

Working within the Looked After Children team, this Senior Practitioner will have the following responsibilities:

- Maintaining a strategic oversight of the placements of the council's Looked After Children, in order to maximize efficient use of current resources and establish future need. 
- Establish and maintain arrangements for the efficient procurement of external placements for looked after children, maintaining an oversight of the cost of individual placements. 
- Develop, maintain and operate systems for assessment, monitoring of placement quality, including but not limited to undertaking Reg 33 visits to the Council's own residential homes. 
- Assessment and monitoring visits to external placements, investigation of complaints about providers and making recommendations about the use of particular placements. 
- Assist and deputise for the placement service manager and other senior practitioners in the discharge of their duties. 
- Contribute to the progression of care plans, and to challenge established processes and behaviours where these impede the efficient and appropriate use of resources. 
- Make a contribution to the council's overall strategy for looked after children, developing and maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external partners in order to do so. 
- Receive and assess all requests for placements for looked after children, allocating work within the team at a level appropriate to the complexity of the child's needs. 
- Maintain responsibility for identifying and procuring placements for those children with the most complex needs, and for the spot-purchasing of external placements. 
- Attend and/or chair panels and other decision-making forums in relation to the work of the service. 

The successful Senior Practitioner will need to hold a DipSW or equivalent. Candidates will need to be GSCC registered and hold a current CRB.
